Entry requirements

Learners looking to secure a place on this course require a successful interview and an interest in the subject due to the intensity of the course. All applicants will complete a numeracy and Literacy test. (Attendance for the course must be 100% due to the duration and timings, so it is important that no holidays are taken during this time).

Course content

During the course, you will cover the following:

• Reduce risks to health and safety
• Cut hair using basic techniques
• Cut facial hair using basic techniques
• Dry and finish men’s hair
• Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
• Advise and consult with clients
• Reception
• Create patterns in the hair

This will be continually assessed through practical assessments, observations, portfolio evidence, written tasks, and online exams.

Progression

Whilst this qualification is to prepare learners for employment, you may wish to progress your career and develop other skills by completing an advanced qualification in Barbering at Level 3:

Or you may want to apply for a position in one of our busy stores working alongside our skilled team as a junior barber.

Course dates and times

Our Level 2 courses are intensive, they run throughout the year and are based over 8 weeks, 5 day a week in our St Helen’s Academy and 1 day’s placement within one of our 8 stores. (Please check our website for the latest dates).

Course fees

Government funding is available for 19-23 year olds subject to eligibility.

Private payment options are available for applicants over 23 years old or not eligible for funding.
